There are beautiful places, and then there are places that become part of your story.
For Kate and Michael, a Longwood Gardens engagement session was always the right choice. It's where Michael proposed, where Kate's family has made memories for years, and a place that has always meant something to them. Returning here to celebrate this next chapter felt like coming home.
We wandered through the Italian Water Garden, stopped by the Love Temple overlooking the Large Lake, explored the Main Fountain Garden, and, most importantly, found our way back to the Idea Garden—the exact spot where Michael asked Kate to marry him. Even on one of the busiest summer days, they found a few quiet moments together where their story began.
These are the sessions that stay with me. Beautiful locations are a bonus, but it's always the people and the meaning behind them that make the photographs unforgettable.
If you're dreaming of engagement photos at Longwood Gardens, planning ahead is key. Professional photography requires a Longwood Gardens photography permit, which should be reserved in advance through the gardens. Kate and Michael secured their permit well in advance of their session, and we were accompanied by a wonderful Longwood Gardens staff guide who helped us navigate the property, recommended the best photo locations, let us know where we could step on the grass, and even helped us briefly photograph some of the busiest spots with fewer crowds. It made the entire experience feel seamless and allowed us to focus on what mattered most—capturing genuine moments together.

There are so many! But some of my favorite locations include the Love Temple, the Italian Water Garden, the Main Fountain Garden, and the Idea Garden—where Kate and Michael's proposal took place. Every season offers something different, making Longwood Gardens one of the most beautiful engagement photo locations near Philadelphia.
Yes! A wedding at Longwood Gardens is an unforgettable experience, with several beautiful ceremony and reception options throughout the property. The iconic Conservatory can accommodate up to 400 guests for a seated dinner and cocktail reception, while the newer Fountain Room offers a stunning reception space for celebrations of up to 200 guests. Whether you're planning an intimate gathering or a larger celebration, Longwood Gardens is one of the most unique wedding venues in the Philadelphia area—and an engagement session here is the perfect way to celebrate the place where your story continues.
