Every part of the day took place inside one of Philadelphia’s most iconic wedding venues, allowing the celebration to unfold at an unhurried pace. Family and lifelong friends gathered early in the morning, filling the hotel suites with laughter, excitement, and a few happy tears before the day officially began. Rather than rushing from one location to another, everyone had the chance to simply enjoy being together.
The design throughout the day embraced a refined black-and-white palette accented with crisp white florals and touches of natural greenery.
The bride wore a custom satin gown with long sleeves and a graceful scoop neckline, paired with stunning Chanel slingbacks and a sleek updo that felt both modern and timeless. The groom complemented her perfectly in a classic black tuxedo, proving that understated style never goes out of fashion.
A First Look on the Ritz-Carlton’s Iconic Marble Staircase
One of the most memorable moments of the day happened before the ceremony even began.
The couple chose to see each other for the first time on the Ritz-Carlton’s grand marble staircase leading to the lower-level ballroom. Lined with dozens of glowing candles, the staircase felt quiet and intimate despite the grandeur of the space.
It’s one of my favorite locations inside the Ritz because it offers some of the most beautiful architecture in the hotel. The marble, symmetrical design, and soft candlelight create a timeless backdrop that adds richness to the portraits while keeping the attention exactly where it belongs—on the couple.

As guests took their seats, candlelight transformed the ceremony space into something incredibly warm and inviting.
The glow reflected softly throughout the ballroom, creating an intimate atmosphere that made even one of Philadelphia’s grandest wedding venues feel remarkably personal.
One of the things I appreciate most about the Ritz-Carlton is how beautifully the ballroom complements different wedding styles. If the ceremony was quiet and emotional, the reception was pure celebration. Looking around the room, it was easy to see that this celebration wasn’t defined by its beautiful details alone. The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia provided a stunning backdrop, but it was the people inside it who brought the ballroom to life.
Heartfelt toasts brought tears to more than a few tables before the evening shifted into a dance floor that stayed full well into the night. Friends celebrated with infectious energy, parents embraced their children, and every generation found themselves sharing the same dance floor.

Where are the best places for wedding photos at The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia?
The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia offers some of my favorite portrait locations in the city without ever leaving the building. The grand marble staircase is an iconic spot for a first look and timeless portraits, while the elegant lobby, marble columns overlooking the rotunda, and the historic elevator alcove all create beautiful backdrops throughout the day. If you’d like to step outside for a few minutes, City Hall is only steps away. I love using the South Broad Street side for family and bridal party portraits because of the wide archways, while the East Market Street staircase is one of my favorite locations for romantic portraits of just the two of you.
Where should we have our first look at The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia?
If you’re planning a first look, I almost always recommend the grand marble staircase. It’s one of the most beautiful spaces in the hotel, offering a timeless architectural backdrop while still feeling surprisingly intimate. The staircase also gives us plenty of room to photograph the moment from different perspectives without taking away from the emotion of seeing each other for the first time.
